Invasive Species Removal in Waikiki

Today a class from UH Manoa conducted an invasive species removal project (Ewa of the Natatorium in Waikiki) headed by Dr. Celia Smith.  Reef Watch Waikiki and the Department of Aquatic Resources were on site to support Dr. Smith and her class.  In an hour and a half, over 1,500 pounds of the invasive algae, Gracilaria salicornia (Gorilla Ogo), was removed.  The algae was given to the zoo for fertilizer.
