There are several ways to get involved with our work in the Waikīkī MLCD:
Become a volunteer and learn to conduct snorkel surveys or provide shore support. Please email us to request a volunteer application.
- Anyone wishing to participate in snorkel surveys must be a strong swimmer, competent snorkeler, and have his/her own mask, snorkel and fins.
- Assistance is also needed on shore during snorkel surveys to keep watch over participants’ gear and answer questions from curious beach goers. Volunteers helping in this capacity are not responsible for snorkeler safety. What better excuse can you find to hang out on the beach and bask in the sun (or shade)?
Attend our public education programs and share what you learn with others.
- Subscribe to this blog to receive notifications of upcoming events, or just check back regularly and click on our Events page to stay informed of educational classes and other learning opportunities.
- Events are also posted to our Facebook page.
Make a donation of services, products or cash
- We are in the process of identifying a new fiscal sponsor. If you are interested to make a cash donation, please contact us via email.
- In-kind donations of products or services are also welcome! Examples of in-kind donations we have received to date include: snorkel gear from a local dive shop; ad space in a local publication; wrist lanyards for survey slates; and various other supplies used in our marine education and stewardship programs. We have created a wish list of useful supplies and services, but welcome your ideas, too! Please contact us if you have other resources to share that you feel we could benefit from.
